Top Ten Favorite Things in Vietnam:
(November 2003)
- Cheap Beer
- Vietnamese Food
- Cheap Italian Restaurants (Cappuccino!)
- Free Internet at work (my own computer; can you imagine a TEFL job with
your own computer?)
- Guesthouse does my laundry; irons my shirts, folds, etc. They also
clean the room once a day.
- Vietnamese coffee - with or without the condensed milk.
- Crossing the street - makes you appreciate life.
- Trying to speak Vietnamese and not say anything offensive
- Happy People - you've really got to see it to believe it.
- Cao Dong Park in the morning - filled with people running, university
students practicing how to assemble and dissemble rifles, people practicing tai chi and wu shu; a nice walk in the morning.
Top Ten Heinous Things in Vietnam:
-
Taxi Drivers - not as bad as Manila but far, far worse than
Cebu some are very nice but you can see this city is getting that Manila - style "edge"
-
Crossing the street - also makes you appreciate the fact
that you can lose your life very easily...

Happy birthday mr. Thierry!
We tagged along with the staff from Underground to The Corner Cafe to celebrate Thierry's birthday. I think most of them
speak for themselves...

Chuc Mung Nam Moi!
On Tet eve, we battled with everyone else in Saigon for a nice spot to watch the fireworks over the river. Our sweet spot
turned out to be right at the end of Nguyen Hue st., thank you, Ray-Ray, for leading us to salvation.
With the fireworks and all, Tet actually felt like New Year to us!

Cholon
One day during Tet we decided to take a stroll through the deserted streets and - lo and behold - we ended up in
Cholon. We saw many tiger dances. Most of them in front of beauty salons. Cholon tiger dancers must really like beauty
salons.
